Tv Online Sport Free! Watching movies "online totally free" is a common practice. Even for movies who have not even visited DVD yet you can find sites all around us where people can post movies to look at that people have secretly taken a video camera in a movie showing and recorded the whole movie with their computer. After that all it takes is a search with the internet to discover said movie. While the experience isn't the same as spending money on it and seeing it in the theater people that just want to go to a movie can discover myriads of places online to view.
Even YouTube has places for fan videos that disguise themselves as places to look at movies online. Piracy used to be getting bootleg copies of VHS tapes and DVDs the good news is movie piracy could possibly be even harder to control thanks to the internet.
Financial Fallout
Movie piracy cost U.S. movie studios over 1.3 billion dollars in 2005 mostly due to internet in an article posted to Torrent Freak. A 2004 survey conducted by the Motion Picture Associated of America claims that regarding 3,600 internet users surveyed 24 percent said that they had downloaded a motion picture online based on an article in PC World. Surely the numbers has to be even more right now. Further, 69% with the respondents felt that downloading a motion picture online was not a "major concern."
More recently, downloading movies and streaming these phones internet is so prevalent in Spain that that amount of DVD stores has dropped 25% since 2003 along with the illegal pirating of movies is threatening to end the DVD industry in Spain altogether. Business Insider quoted Michael Lynton of Sony as saying "Spain is on the brink of don't being a viable marketplace for us." This was in late March of 2010.
The overuse injury in Spain could be a Catch-22. If DVDs are will no longer sold in Spain then the industry for pirated copies of movies may a lot more lucrative and pirates gets more creative plus more ardent for the product. Just like making drugs illegal the demand won't disappear so prices will spike with an entire black market may develop and things may get much more out of control.
Perhaps one other reason for piracy besides not paying for expensive movie tickets is spoofed in this piece on Business Insider. Like movies inside theater, DVDs now have previews, trailers, and advertising with them. When you can watch a pirated copy with no ads that just simply extends to the movie without ten minutes worth of advertising, maybe the feeling of apathy in our consumerist contemporary society is reaching a breaking point.
Anti-Piracy Measures
France and Britain are at the forefront in anti-piracy measures. In a New York Times article in March of 2010, Parliament is around the verge of considering a law that might allow authorities to fully cut off internet connection to those who download movies illegally on the internet. France has already passed a law therefore but has yet to implement it. Civil liberties groups are watching legislation closely and therefore are wary the measure may go too far.
While these laws are created to protect a niche industry from taking a loss, again we have to point to illegal drugs just as one mirror to movie piracy. The problem with drugs aren't the tiny time dealers that are trying to make a full time income when they do not know any other way nevertheless the large suppliers and drug cartels who allow them to have the drugs inside first place. Movie downloaders are probably the same way. The problem mustn't be the people who watch movies online for free but those that pirate the films and put them for the internet inside the first place. Cut off the head along with the body dies.
In late March of 2010, The Hollywood Reporter posted a special article stating that this US Copyright Group has sued more than 20,000 torrent users for illegal piracy of movies. Another lawsuit is forthcoming that targets more than 30,000 users for five particular movie titles. It appears the film market is not taking this lightly.
New Formats
Blu-Ray discs as well as the new 3-D format can help to tackle the piracy condition in their own way. If a movie is being touted as only able to be affecting 3-D that would be tougher to get a copy than it straight away from a camera version taken inside the movie theater. The DVD can be the only way to view it.
Another strategy to combat piracy is always to make online services including Netflix cheaper. What you would lose in price could be made up for in volume. Perhaps making movie ticket prices somewhat cheaper would help too. There are all kinds of things the film industry are able to do in order to combat piracy which includes nothing to do with filing a case.
For most of these measures being come to sue people who break the law you can find always sites like YouTube that usually can't get caught up with illegal downloads. Episodes of tv programs, movies, plus more can be found on sites like YouTube, Veoh, and LiveVideo all totally free. Until those websites may be more vigilant about doing away with copyrighted content then individuals will continue to observe pirated videos.
On the complete, movie piracy is bad for your film industry as they lose money. The problem then becomes that if they can stem the piracy problem will movie ticket prices actually go lower? Will online viewing services like NetFlix lower their prices if the movie market is recouping this money? There has got to be a give-and-take attitude relating to this problem. There has got a chance to be some incentive for users to wish to pay for a movie. Spending money is always good for your economy even if it means investing in enjoying a motion picture.
Another step to consider may be the current state with the economy. People are still hurting financially and will want to get things free of charge or little cost as long as possible. When that carrot goes away then a movie industry must adjust to lure those customers time for seeing movies otherwise the movie piracy problem will just read more creative instead of vanish entirely.
